You find lots of little things going on in every community in the
country. If there is a world here in a hundred years, it will not be due
to any big organization of any sort, no big political group, no big
church, nor big government. It is going to be saved by millions upon
millions of little organizations. It might just be that what Jesus and
Jeremiah and Mohammed and Buddha [are] about will come true. - Pete Seeger
The sheer numbers of dead and homeless in Southeast Asia have been
unimaginable for many of us, but because we are all a part of the human
family it has become imperative that we act to support and assist our
fellow man in this time of dire need.
The artists of North Central Washington have responded to this
devastating natural disaster by organizing an event to raise money for
the victims. On January 29 we will conduct a multi-media event at
McDee's Art Center in Wenatchee from 1 to 9 PM.
It is our goal to generate $10,000 with all proceeds going to aid the
victims.
Donated works by NCW artists and art students will be available for
silent auction throughout the afternoon hours. In the evening at 7 PM,
refreshments will be served and a live auction of selected artworks by
prominent local artists, including Bob Graves, will be conducted by John
Darling. There will be live music during the day and evening.
At this time, our immediate need is for donations of artwork and for
volunteers to help during the actual event. We will be accepting donated
works at McDee's Art Center at 30 N. Chelan Avenue in Wenatchee the week
prior to the event, January 24 to 28. The store hours are Monday to
Friday 9 AM to 5:30 PM.
